The Orthan Kingdom is set apart from most regions. Some in Hoenn know of this kingdom because it has a direct transportation across the sea using ships, as well as Kanto.
But this is in modern times.
What happened before that? Before everything else, before the advanced technology and before humans kept Pokémon inside small Pokéballs?
Orthan has been ruled by monarchy since there’s record, with new kings and queens being crowned from time to time. This year, Demin was chosen as the next in the generation of kings.
And what happened in the past? Which knights swore fidelity to the king, to protect the lands?
How did the kingdom interact with Pokémon? Which Pokémon accompanied these brave knights, the working villagers and the responsible kings?
Or were they?
…
News came. The Spiritual Mountain was no longer just a name. West of Oritentle, now known as Ghost Village in the middle of the desert, was at that time a wide plain of verdant fields. They stretched to the mountain walls that delimited the region, to the craters, and to everything else that existed in that area.
But this was new.
“It’s a catastrophe!” Some said, whilst the king prepared his troops to march towards the mountain.
What was inside the Spiritual Mountain that frightened the villagers of Orientle that much?
Not even the king knew. He ordered immediate evacuation to the mountains, building a shiny dot of hope on top of the northeastern mountain, the town of Cintilia, where villagers were supposed to be kept while the Spiritual Mountain’s so-called evil was destroyed.
Some time passed. Nothing seemed to have been done to help the situation, so the king had no choice.
His soldiers were sent out to recruit more soldiers: they traveled across the bay and reached as far as Victala, where many were taken to war. Nothing else except the Caitla docks existed to the west, and there was a long way to cross through the Middlin Forest before reaching these docks. The soldiers gave up and took a new route: up the mountain, towards the Cintilia town.
This was obviously against the king’s will: Cintilia was supposed to keep people away from the war, not dragging them into it.
And while a large number of people joined the soldiers against the evil in the Spiritual Mountains, the king soon knew of the “betrayal”, and ordered the soldiers to go alone to the Spiritual Mountains and defeat whatever was inside.
The soldiers never came back, needless to say.
With no choice left, the king accepted the troops the soldiers had gathered, and allowed recruitment in Cintilia.
Something had to be done against evil this time…
Ok, so this is the basic story. Now, any of the characters you create must have an origin in either:
Orientle, which is near the Spiritual Mountain. You can see it in the Orthan Map with the name Ghost Village;
Cintilia, atop the mountain, to the farthest point of Orthan;
Caitla docks, to the farthest northwest habituated point of Orthan;
Victala, up the bay.
There are obviously some characteristics that will remain in your character in any of them:
People of Orientle are either very frightened or very courageous, since they are very close to the Spiritual Mountain, or the evil.
People in Victala have an obvious preference for Grass Pokémon and a big aversion to Poison Pokémon, without any specific characteristic.
People of Caitla are very good in doing business, have good skills of sailing, but can be very fond of betrayal.
People of Cintilia don’t know fear nor courage: they were evacuated, and therefore think they are safe, when they are actually going to war too.
Right now, our player list counts with:
Me ^^
Salimus
Kuroko
Yera
Mathew
Potatoshreder
Darkbahamutneo
Come on, we need more people! And don’t forget, we need three people to do the three knights! And one to do the evil! That one comes to talk to me for more details!
