Max wandered off to the starting place, clearing having done this before. Misty returned Psyduck to his pokeball and then quickly walked over to her stand. She considered which Pokemon to use -studying him carefully. He was confident; she was sure if that was good or bad.
"Let's go... Starmie!" Misty shouted. She tossed out her Pokeball and out popped Starmie. With a flash of light, the Pokeball returned to her hand. She was in her battle mind-set. Starmie seemed to be as well. He dove under, ready for Misty's command. Misty just studied Max, awaiting his choice of Pokemon. [/blockquote]

He smiled at the star-shaped Pokemon. He rembered his dad battling one of those once. Looked very exciting, even when he beat him. The trainer had re-challanged him, of course, but with a diffrent Pokemon than he had before.
"Alright," he said aloud, making the Pokeball in his hand grow larger, his arm swinging back to throw it. "Let's give it all we got, Dusk!" The Pokeball got launched into the air, a red light spurting out a Pokemon.
"Dusknoir!" the Pokemon said, it's red eye flashing dimly as it looked around, ready to battle.

Misty was prepared for just about anything, but what she wasn't ready for was the Pokemon that Max had sent out. She was sure that she'd never even had saw one, let alone battled one! She held her cool, however. She was going to win. Narrowing her eyes, she only looked taken aback for a few seconds. "Starmie," She commanded as the Pokemon rose the surface. "Water Gun!" She added, with a point toward the other Pokemon.
Starmie instantly started into the attack with a large gush of water coming from one of it's points. Misty grinned in pride, following the trail with her eyes. She didn't know the other Pokemon's weaknesses, but she planned to figure it out.

Max grinned inwardly. This might just be a bit easy, he thought to him self. Fun, too. But he couldn't count on just that.
"Alright, Dusk!" he said, the Ghost-Type getting in position. "Use Phsyscic, and launch the water-gun back at Starmi!" He knew the water-type would only feel a little damage, but it was better than his Pokemon getting hurt.
"Dusknoir!" the Pokemon shouted, it's eye turning a light purple. A light line went over the water-gun, controling it and making it turn in a spin, launching the atttack back at the star-shaped Pokemon.

Misty frowned, watching as the Pokemon turned the water gun back at Starmie. She studied it for a second, and then turned her attention to Starmie. "Starmie! Dive under the water can come up with a tackle attack!" She instructed.
The Pokemon went to dive, nearly missing the reflected attack. It still managed to hit one of his upper points, however, which threw him slightly off balance. Still, Starmie dove under, only set back for a second or two by the attack. With a swift recovery, the Pokemon soon launched himself out of the water from below the other Pokemon.
Misty nodded of approval; they still had a chance. [/blockquote]

He had to admit, this girl was good. But he knew they still had some time to battle before he could take the win by beating her last Pokemon, what ever that may be. Max only smirked as the Starmie went right through the Ghost-Type. Normal tpye attacks didn't effect it too well.
"You'll have to do better than that!" he couldn't help but tell Misty. "Now, Dusk! Use Shadow Ball!"
A dark ball was launched from the Pokemon's hands, heading straight for the star-Pokemon.

Misty gasped, watching as her Starmie went right through the other Pokemon. He wasn't even phased! She didn't have much experience with Ghost-type Pokemon, but she knew she'd have to kick it up a notch. Misty was about to shout out another attack to Starmie when Max shouted out an attack instead.
Starmie was still in the air as the other Pokemon launched a Shadow Ball attack. Misty bit her lip as the ball of energy hit Starmie right on and launched him back into the pool. She waited for a few seconds, unsure if Starmie would be able to still battle. When the star-like Pokemon returned to the surface, her eyes flickered toward the ruby in his center. It wasn't blinking yet; he was fine.
With a sharp exhale, her eyes lifted toward Max and his Pokemon. "Good move," She managed. "But can you handle this? Starmie, use Recover. Then, hit them with a Hydro Pump." She commanded, confidently. The Pokemon soon listened, first using recovery to recover slightly and then launching a powerful beam of water toward the other Pokemon.

"That was very intelligent... I have to conduct a research on Water and Ghost Types interaction next time I get to Orthan. I think I will discover many interesting strategies." Prof. Cal mumbled to himself, focused on how the battle developed on the gym, and how the moves were done with accuracy and thought, from both trainers.

Max couldn't help but sneer as the Hydro-Pump came raging towards Dusk. It seemed very hard for the Pokemon to dodge it, so he knew he had only one option for him.
"Dusk!" he shouted. "Take the hit!"
"Dusknoir!" The Pokemon raised it's hands, the Hydro Pump knocking it backwards several feet. It still floated in the air, though, injured and dripping wet.
"Now, use your Hynosys!" Max said.
"Dusk!" It's eye turned diffrent colors as it stared at the Starmie, hoping it would make it fall asleep.

Misty beamed, clearly proud of Starmie's attack. Starmie stayed at the surface of the water, studying Dusknoir as they awaited their next move.
At Max's command, Misty's smile faded and she glanced to Starmie. "Come on Starmie, don't look at it," She directed. But, of course, it was too late. Starmie was drifting off to sleep.
Misty sighed, realizing this. She began to call to the Pokemon in attempt to get it to wake up. If he didn't wake up soon, she'd have to switch Pokemon or something. She had to give Max credit; he knew what he was doing.

[b"Alright!" Max shouted, seeing the Pokemon fall asleep. "Now Dusk, use your Phsycic to throw it against the wall!"
Dusknoir!" His eye turned a purpleish color again, this time the feild lining the Starmie. Hopfully, it wouldn't wake up as it was being damaged.

"Come on, Starmie, wake up!" Misty shouted to her Pokemon. Of course, the pokemon didn't budge as it was still fast asleep. Misty groaned, watching the Pokemon being thrown against the wall. The Pokemon landed on the surface with a slight thud.
Misty's eyes shifted to Starmie's gem; the red orb was now blinking, which meant the Starmie was out of energy. "Darn it," Misty muttered. He couldn't handle the hit and had fainted. Reaching for his ball, Misty tossed it out. "Good job Starmie! Come on back." After putting his ball away Misty reached for one of her other Pokeballs.
"Good job, but I bet you can't handle this," Misty called out. She was about to send out Dewgong when one of her other Pokeballs rolled into the stadium. Before she had a chance to grab it, Psyduck came out and the ball returned.
"Psyduck, no!" Misty gasped, slightly frustrated. Setting Dewgong's ball back, she sighed. She was stuck with Psyduck now. "Well then, use water gun." The Pokemon just glanced at her, standing on the platform in a rather confused manner.
"Psy? Psyduck." He muttered, holding his head. Misty groaned. This probably wouldn't go over well.

He couldn't help but smile slightly at the Psyduck. They were cute, but not all that Powerful. He just didn't want to have to go through one of his headaches.
"Alright, Dusk!" he said to his Pokemon, grabbing out his Pokeball. "Return!" The Pokemon was quickly returned back to it's Pokeball. Max quickly grabbed another Pokeball from his belt. "Go, Dragon!" he shouted, throwing it. A red flash appeared before a dragon-type Pokemon landed on one of the floating platforms.
"Drago!" said the large Dragonite. Confusingly, it looked around.
"Dragon, use Dragon Breath!" Max commanded.
"Drago!" it said, taking in a large breath before launching a fire-like move towards the confused-looking Phsyduck.

"Psyduck! Get out of the way," Misty called to her Pokemon. The confused creature just stood there, still holding his head. "Psyduck, move!" Misty tried again.
"Psy?" Psyduck slowly turned around, but he was too late. the Dragonite's attack was coming his way. Within a few seconds, Psyduck had been hit and pushed backwards into the water.
After recovering, the Pokemon began to struggle in attempt to keep himself above the water. Misty sighed; what could she do? The only way Psyduck listened was if he had a headache... which, wouldn't happen without a lot of commontion and pressure. "Psyduck! Get out of the water and use scratch!"
After a few more seconds, the stuggling pokemon managed to hoist itself out of the water. He laid down on the ledge in an exhausted manner; once again ignoring Misty's attempt at an attack. Misty sighed once again, before shouting out one last attack. "Come on, Psyduck! Show him what you can do. Use water gun!"
Finally, the Pokemon made a half effort in an attempt at a water gun attack. Misty gave a slight smile; it wasn't the best, but it was an attempt.

Max gulped slightly. Yeah, so this may be a little bit harder than he first imagined. So the Phsyduck was gonna fight back, sure. But hey, Max still thought he was going to win this thing, so why give up now when he still had a chance?
"Dragon, take the hit!" Max ordered.
"Drago!" the dragon-type called, redying itself. The water gun came at a direct hit, making the large Pokemon skid to the very last inch of the platform. Dra!" the Pokemon called, trying to kepp it's balance. Finally, it succeded, moving back to the front of the platform.
"Now Dragon, use Extreme Speed!" Max called out the attack.
"Drago!" With a slight leap, the Pokemon burst into the air only a few feet from the water, leaving wakes behind it. It's sped grew instantly, and it charged towards the Phsyduck with intens speed.
