This is my first ever fanfic, so please be nice. xD
I wrote the Prologue a while back, but just started to update the story recently. It's also located on FanFiction.Net.
Feedback is loved! <3 And yes, it is kinda long, heh... I'm currently aiming for around 2500 to 3000+ words per chapter.
If you steal any part of this story, I will hunt you down. c:
Prologue
"Sir! It worked, we have a heartbeat!"
A tall, slender man dressed in a black suit moved swiftly over to the monitor, looking at it from over the scientist's shoulder, almost in disbelief. It was true; the reading on the screen meant that it was very much alive. After years of failed attempts, this was the furthest they had managed to come to their goal.
"Is it stable?" the suited man asked, without bothering to glance at anyone. The data on the screen was what interested him most.
"Yes. We might have done it this time, Sir." he replied, grabbing a clipboard. "This is the basic genetics, and the formulas, and-"
"What?" The man stared at his employee in an expression of both anger and confusion. "Why would I need that?"
"Well, er... You know, when we repeat the process on a bigger scale and-"
The man laughed harshly. "Why the hell do you think I spent so much money, so many years on this project?" He waited for a response, but when one didn't come, he continued, "Our little creation here is powerful enough. We only need one of them. More would mean they were harder to keep in control. That's why you and your co-workers only worked on one at a time." He glanced over to the chamber their experiment was in, connected to hundreds of wires. "One is all we will ever need."
With that, he moved across the room again, toward the experiment, and placed his hand on the glass that contained it. Inside, it floated in the fluid that was keeping it alive until it was strong enough to breathe on it's own, and thousands of tiny cables were attached to the body, which then ran through the computer at the bottom to the rest of the room.
"It's beautiful." he said softly, stroking the glass a little.
"Indeed it is, Nazar." came the reply. He turned around to see his partner, and smiled tightly. The woman made her way past the scientists with ease, as they jumped out of her way without question. They had learned to do so from very early on. She eventually stood next to Nazar, her floor-length black hair trailing behind her, and Nazar placed his arm around her. She spoke again, "However, our creation is a she, not an it. The DNA came from a female, and thus a female this one had to be also." She sounded almost bitter.
Nazar looked at her, and smiled. "Don't worry, Malin," he whispered to her softly, "You are the ruler-to-be, not our creation. This thing is merely a pawn in our game. We only need her power. As long as she is kept under control, there will be no problems. No matter how great her power is, she is still our property, and nothing more."
Malin smirked, her hand still on the glass, warm from the liquid on the other side. "I know." she said, laughing a little. The sound was harsh and uncaring. "Which reminds me, can we play with our collection later on?" she added, turning away from the glass, and moving her arms around Nazar's shoulders, as if no one else was watching. "We haven't had time lately... They'll be missing us."
Nazar smirked, and ran his hand through Malin's hair. "Of course. Which one did you have in mind?" he asked her, taking her hand and moving away from their creation for the moment.
"Those three Charmander we found, I was thinking. They never shut up whining, and I was hoping to teach them a lesson after one of them tried to be a hero and attacked the grunt last time." She paused for a moment, thinking. "Maybe we can beat them around a little... Try and get rid of the fire on their tails?" she asked hopefully.
Nazar nodded. "Of course. But for now, I need to finish up here. You're welcome to start without me." He kissed Malin on the lips passionately. "I'll see you later." he muttered, finally pulling himself away from her and smiling a little.
The woman nodded and swiftly left the room without another word. Nazar watched her go, and then turned to the team of scientists that were waiting for his orders. He cleared his throat, and began, "Congratulations. We have managed to get Experiment M-27 operational. It can be monitored for a few days, and then-"
"Sir!" one of the scientists interrupted quickly. Nazar glared down at him, but the other man continued, a shaky finger pointing to the monitor. "Look! The readings..." His voice trailed off, and he gulped. According to his monitor, the thing's heartbeat was increasing, and fast. The rest of the computers showed the same thing, and everyone's eyes turned to the chamber. The experiment was moving.
"It's ready!" Nazar shouted. "Drain the fluid!"
"But Nazar, sir-"
"Do it! I don't care if it's early. The thing is ready, so do it!" At this command, the scientist typed a password into the computer, followed by a command. The fluid was pumped out of the chamber and back into the tanks it had come from originally, leaving the experiment held up by wires. As the glass of the chamber was lifted away, they pulled off effortlessly, and the creature slumped onto the base, still slightly covered in the liquid. It's long, silver body had wrapped itself almost into a coil, and it's head rested on itself, appearing to be asleep.
Nazar was the first to move. He approached it slowly, stopping a few feet away from his creation, and simply staring at it for a moment in silence. The creature flicked it's tail, and slowly moved her head upward, opening her eyes for the first time.
"Nazar." she said, her voice ringing perfectly clear. How she did it, they weren't entirely sure, as no mouth had moved, but the sound was definitely there. Nazar nodded in response to her, smiling.
"Yes." he answered, "I am Nazar. Do you know what your purpose is?" he asked her slowly. They had conditioned the experiment from the beginning, knowing that it would have a mind of it's own. But of course, that only meant it could be taught from an early stage.
M-27 nodded. "You want power, and I am your weapon." It was said in a very detached tone, like it didn't matter to the creature in the slightest.
"Correct. You were created for that one purpose, and I, Nazar, am your master." Nazar looked pleased with himself, glad that the experiment had finally worked. "Now, I want you to obey my command: Kill everyone else in this room." There was a gasp of horror from the scientists, and they attempted to run toward the doors. "Stop them!"
M-27's tail flicked in the direction of the doors, and they slammed shut, unable to be moved. The group looked in fear to Nazar and his creation, to see the former smirking. He turned back to the long, snake-like creature with a laugh.
"Now, kill them."
"No."
"What?!" Nazar blinked in surprise. "You know your purpose! Do as I say!"
"No, Nazar." she repeated calmly. "I know my purpose, why you created me. That does not mean I agree with it, or that I am willing to serve you." She then raised herself from the platform she'd been resting on, hovering in the air, and turned to the scientists she had been ordered to kill. "You are not innocent either. There will come a time where you will be made to pay for your actions." With that, her eyes glowed a brilliant white, and she was surrounded by an orb of energy, which eventually shrank into nothing after she had teleported away.
Nazar turned around to face his so-called 'teammates', a sheepish grin on his face. "Well then, it looks like you all failed me. Again." He pulled something out of his pocket, and sighed. "No matter. None of you are needed now. So, goodbye." He pushed a button on the device he had taken out, and the lights in the building went off instantly, followed by the emergency power slowly turning the smaller lights on, that did very little. "Because I'm afraid, this building is about to cease to exist. And as I'm sure you're aware, you are locked in."
"So are you, Nazar!" a woman shouted from the front of the crowd angrily. She was clutching a metal object in her hand, as if she was about to strike out at him.
"Incorrect, I'm afraid." Nazar laughed. "This little thing," he waved the device in front of them for a moment, "happens to be more than a detonator. Farewell." He pushed another button, and in a flash of light, was gone, leaving the team of scientists alone in a building that was about to explode.
Nazar had sent himself to an underground base he had set up many years ago, that acted as his and Malin's home as well. He slammed the device onto a steel desk, furious. That was when a computer in the room caught his attention. According to that, M-27 was still alive, though the explosion in the lab had lost him the ability to track her. Still, it didn't matter. There was only so many places she could run, before she was eventually captured.
Nazar already had an idea of how to finish what he had started, and use his creation for the purpose he intended. All he needed now, was time to prepare.
Far away, a silver creature flew across mountains, forests and oceans, traveling without knowing where it was headed, or why. She just knew she needed to escape. She needed to hide. There was no doubt in her mind that Nazar would come looking for her soon.
But she would make it as difficult as possible.[/size]
