Catori sat on a large rock near the Olivine Lighthouse, leaning back on her hands and letting the breeze push her hair away from her face. Her bag sat at her feet, and Rei, her Misdreavus, was sitting on top of it, sleeping.
So far, she'd managed to obtain three badges in Johto, even though she wasn't interested in taking part in the Pokemon League. It was merely because they'd passed through the towns, and some of her Pokemon had been itching for a battle. Blaze, her Growlithe, in particular.
But now the novelty had worn off a little, and Catori found herself wondering what exactly she wanted to do. Johto was a great place, but this was her first taste of real freedom, and she felt the urge to get as far away from home as she dared.
Sighing lazily, she leaned further back, looking out to the horizon, and wondering what the best choice was. The sounds around her were blocked out by the mp3 player she was listening to, which she found therapeutic.

"I'm done for!" David groaned, checking the Pokégear's map again. "Goldenrod isn't this way...! The Radio Station director will kill me!"
He kept going down the road, eventually entering the boardwalk to the Lighthouse.
"I'd better call him..." David switched functions and stopped in the Call. "Dang it, I can't call from here... Where is technology in Olivine anyway?!"

Hearing someone yelling, Rei blinked, floating up off of the bag and looking around, in a mixture of curiosity and annoyance. Noticing her friend, Catori turned around too, following her gaze.
A boy, who she guessed was about the same age as her, was yelling at the PokeGear around his wrist. She raised her eyebrows, glancing to Rei for a moment, who didn't seem too amused, and floated back down to sit on Catori's bag.
The girl, on the other hand, got to her feet, almost slipping briefly but then regaining her balance. She waved, trying to get his attention. "Do you want to use mine?" she shouted over. Her own PokeGear had been modified a little to get a stronger signal, because she used to live in a fairly remote place.

"My only way out of this is to find someone who can borrow me some network..." David sighed, walking around the dock.
He halted when he noticed someone was calling from behind.
His eyes shimmered when he heard she was willing to let him use hers.
"Sure!" He shouted back, approaching the trainer. "I hope you don't mind, but I'll be killed if I don't do something about this call... Let me just dial this number..."

Catori nodded, stepping forward and taking hers from her pocket, handing it to him with a grin. "No worries. Mine's not great here either, but you can make a call on it." she said, nodding again.
Rei had now given up on her nap, and floated over to Catori, hovering next to her, at shoulder height, watching the boy carefully. Catori grinned at her friend, and turned back to the other trainer.
"This is Rei." she smiled, motioning to the ghost Pokemon. "I'm Catori." she added, grinnng broadly.

"Glad to meet you! Name's David!" He stopped when he heard a voice in the Pokégear after dialing the numbers. "Yes, Mr. President? I'm sorry, but I won't be able to attend our meeting. Yes, I know, my uncle promised, but I can't get everything delivered today. I'll try to be there tomorrow." He stopped and let the president speak. "I see. I understand, please excuse me."
David turned off and handed the Pokégear back.
"You saved me from a lot of trouble... Thanks a lot, Catori. You can keep the president's number on your Pokégear if you want."

Catori smiled, taking the PokeGear back from David and placing it inside her pocket again, deciding that she might as well keep the number in there, despite the fact she'd probably never need to use it.
She glanced back to David. "No worries." she laughed. "What happened?" she then added curiously. If she'd supposedly saved him from a lot of trouble by lending him her phone, she wondered what exactly was going on.

David placed the Pokégear on his bag's strap and rubbed the back of his head.
"You see, my uncle's a scientist. He's a really famous person in Kanto, but the Johto Radio Tower President asked me to bring some pieces of his investigation to show off in broadcast. He's studying the Pokémon aura, and how it can be used to compare humans and even transform them into Pokémon. He's crazy, if you want to know..."
He glared at his Pokégear.
"And this little machine took me to the wrong place. The map card must be malfunctioning, and now I have to get it repaired. Fortunately, both the Radio Tower and the repair shop are in Goldenrod, so it saves me trouble."
He walked off the dock.
"Again, thanks for helping me out. Anything you need?"

Catori listened with interest, nodding every now and then as Daniel spoke. To her, the research sounded fascinating, although slightly too complicated for her to fully understand. Even so, she shook her head quickly. "Nah, it sounds cool. I don't think he's crazy."
She nodded again, having come through Goldenrod quite recently herself, and gotten her PokeGear's battery replaced whilst she was there.
At Daniel's last remark, Catori laughed a little, and shook her head. "Don't worry about it, it's nothing." Pausing for a moment, she then added, "And, no, thanks. We're, er, trying to decide where to head next. Y'know. While we're in a port town and all." She shrugged her shoulders.

"Ah. Makes sense. I just came from Viridian, so I'm not really eager to travel again." David replied. He checked the clock again and sighed. "I have to be in Goldenrod tomorrow... But I'm pretty sure its only tomorrow. So, need any help? Collecting Badges, or are you in some other journey?"
I can't travel while Mightyena doesn't rest...

Catori smiled and laughed a little. "Actually, I'm trying to become a Pokemon Breeder." she told him. "And I compete in contests every now and then, too, I guess. And I've collected three badges from Johto, just because a couple of my Pokemon like to battle." she added, glancing briefly to the Pokeballs attached to her bag.
After staying silent for a moment, she looked to Daniel again. "I dunno. I've never really been away from home before, so this is like, new to me. I kind of want to get as far away as I can, even if it's only for a few weeks."

"A breeder, huh? I've had a couple of friends that wanted to be breeders. Well then... if you want to go on a different journey... I could take you to Orthan." David invited, taking a small parchment from his pocket. "I got an invitation to spend some time at a friend's house in a city there, but we could always prolongate the trip to somewhere else."
He put the paper away and grabbed the backpack's leashes.
"But either ways, I have to be in Goldenrod by tomorrow, or I'll be killed by the station director."

"Orthan..." Catori repeated, thinking to herself for a moment. "Hm. How about it, Rei?" she asked, turning to her Misdreavus, "Orthan sound good to you?"
The ghost Pokemon nodded. +Sure. Why not?+
Grinning, Catori turned back to Daniel. "That'd be great, if you're sure you don't mind?" she asked. "And we'll come to Goldenrod with you. I could probably do with stocking up on supplies anyway." she added, thinking back to the department store there.

"Of course I don't mind. The S.S. Quest leaves in two days, which gives us enough time to go and come with ease." David replied, reading the information on his Pokégear. "I installed an alarm clock in the Pokégear so I keep track of stuff. Anyways, how about we go to the Poké Center and then start going?"

Catori nodded. "Sounds great." she smiled, jumping swiftly off of the rock and onto the sand, grabbing her bag and slinging it over her shoulder. "I think the Pokemon Center would probably be a good idea, too..." she mused, starting to walk towards the town again.
